PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:

Pharmacodynamic and Pharmacokinetic properties
Magnesium is a chemical element that is important for normal bone structure. It also plays an essential role in more than 300 cellular reactions. Extracellular magnesium is critical to both maintaining nerve and muscle electrical potentials and transmitting impulses across neuromuscular junctions.

Magnesium Chelate

Absorption: Magnesium requires both parathyroid hormone and vitamin D for absorption. Magnesium is absorbed throughout the gastrointestinal tract.
Distribution: The body contains about 25 grams of magnesium, which is divided in roughly equal portions between the skeleton and soft tissue.
Excretion: Magnesium excretion is primarily via the kidneys and averages only 3% to 5% of the filtered load.

INDICATIONS:

Slow Release Magnesium is a mineral supplement that contributes to normal muscle function, metabolism, cell division, psychological function, nervous system and reduces tiredness and fatigue.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Slow Release Magnesium is contraindicated in:
Known hypersensitivity to magnesium.
Children under 12 years of age.

WARNINGS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:

Patients taking a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) long-term, especially over a year, have been linked to an increased risk of hypomagnesemia.Patients taking amphotericin, pentamidine and tacrolimus can decrease magnesium levels.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:

Magnesium is safe for pregnant and breast-feeding women when used in doses below the tolerable upper intake level (UL) of 350 mg daily. Consult with your healthcare professional before taking Slow Release Magnesium. Higher doses can cause diarrhoea.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Take 1 capsule in the morning before breakfast or as prescribed by a healthcare practitioner. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

CHILDREN
Use not recommended.

SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:

Gastrointestinal disorders:
Less frequent: Gastrointestinal or abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea and nausea.

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVER DOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF TREATMENT:

Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. There is no specific antidote.

IDENTIFICATION:

Light scarlet capsule that contains white powder.

PRESENTATION:

The capsules are packed into white bottles containing 30 capsules. The cap is an induction seal.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:

Store below 25 ˚C, in a dry, dark place. Keep in original packaging.
